I have recently been reading a few articles about vitamin D and they have all basically said the same thing…most Americans suffer from vitamin D deficiency. There are two major forms of Vitamin D, D2 (viosterol, which is created when ultraviolet light actives it) and D3 (cholecalciferol which is its purity and its structure, that similar to cholesterol…hence the name). OK so after that mouth full, you may be asking what does vitamin D do, well it regulates the phosphorus and calcium levels in the blood, which is very necessary for bone growth and bone remolding. Longevity is also an interesting finding in vitamin D. In one study participants who took vitamin D had a 7% lower risk of death than those who did not take the supplement. Now that’s an alarming fact eh…

So as always, consult your doctor before taking any supplements…but adding vitamin D to your list will promote longevity.
