A New Year

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on my blog (shameful I know). But since we are on the verge of a New Year, one filled with new hopes, dreams and aspirations…. I hope this passage from the Iroquois tribe inspires you and encourages you to give thanks to everything and everyone that accompanies you on your journey.

-

We return thanks to our mother, the earth, which sustains us. We return thanks to the rivers and streams which supply us with water. We return thanks to all herbs, which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases. We return thanks to the corn, and to her sisters, the beans and squashes, which give us life. … We return thanks to the sun, that he has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye. Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit, in whom is embodied all goodness, and who directs all things for the good of his children.

Whising everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 Collection

Well it’s about that time to start thinking about buying a new winter coat. Burberry has some interesting shapes and colours for you to look at.

Dating?????

Can someone please tell me where all the fine men with substance are, because I’m having a very hard time finding a great guy, finding Mr. Right seems impossible. Men like to talk about women being superficial or gold diggers. But I’ve only come across cheap men that want the women to pay and do everything for them, so ladies… what do we call them??? Seriously when was the last time a guy asked me out on a date (it’s been ages). I know were in a recession, but honestly guys what happened to having style, finesse or should I say “laisser vagabonder son imagination”.

So I guess you’re asking yourselves “What are the guys like in Houston?”

Well…there chat up lines need some work and there sense of style aint my cup of tea (so to speak). The guys here, from what I can see are family orientated, but the question is how many kids (or should I say baby mama’s do they want????) The  families here are huge and I not just talking about the black families down here. The first question I’m asked is “Can I cook”. Can I cook, yes…. I can cook what I like to eat just fine (since I’m a vegan and all). But what I feel like saying is “Look u cheap (bleep) I aint no aunt Jemima & since that’s what your looking for…then you had better sniff somewhere else” (dat’s putting it nicely). My favorite thing to do is to call them creeps and exit. I guess you can see why I’m still single and still dateless in Houston.

I mean really…… do I look like ‘Aunt Jemima’

Art Of The Month

Don’t think this one needs any introduction….it’s one of my mother’s favourite paintings

‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent van Gogh.

Happy MLK Day

Well folks today is the day we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For all of you that don’t know who he was, he was a clergyman and activist for the civil rights movement in the 50′s & 60′s. One of his most famous speeches was ‘I have a dream’. It’s unfortunate that a man with such noble intentions was assassinated. So today I give homage to the man who changed the hearts and minds of those who were oppressing black people all over the world. He now lives forever!!!!

Happy Birthday Dr. King, you have inspired me to never give in or settle for less than I deserve!!!!!

Celine – Spring Summer 2011

Of course the first post of 2011 is fashion. I’m totally fascinated by her over the top simple shapes.

2011

The New Year is around the corner, for me the days of making resolutions have long gone. I decided a long time ago that change should not be a long list of resolutions (some of which would have been unfulfilled). I know that change should be a constant evolving transition throughout our daily lives.

In order to make your decisions become a reality you must have a plan of action (a step by step process). For example; when I became a vegan, I went cold turkey (so to speak) instead of changing my food items one at a time (which is what I recommend to everyone that ask me how I did it). I gave up everything all at once. The point I’m trying to make here is that instead of jumping in at the deep end. Break up your goals up into manageable pieces and work at them step by step.

Remember when we were babies what did we do…we crawled before we walked. Well the same thing applies here, life never really changed that much.

So as we start our count down for the ‘New Year’. Remember that resolutions/change can be made throughout the year. This year don’t limit yourself into making resolutions on the eve of a ‘New Year’. Why not try something different…..make your changes daily. I’m sure you’ll find a higher rate of success.

“Happy New Year”

Christmas Waltz

The Classics never get old, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

My Christmas Poem

Christmas is here it’s a time for family, joy and happiness.

It’s a time to remember loved ones… gone from this world,

(Christmas makes you think….right).

Do you remember when you would run downstairs

to open all your prezzies

and

think that Father Christmas really existed.

(Looking back those were the good years… my formative years were fun).

 Now its 2010….

And the world and I… have changed so much.

This year I was happy, I moved out of oppression and into the light.

(I guess the stars we in alignment and the heavens were shining upon me).

This year I felt the love of my mother who loves me unconditionally…

(Her soul met with mine and we danced for days).

This year, was a good year.

I think we can all look back and say the same thing.

Old Skool

Psalm 41:1-2
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble. The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.

I was listening to the radio today (getting in to the Christmas spirit with the carols) and this song came on. I had truly forgotten how much of an impact this song had on my childhood. I remember sending food over seas to help those in need. Now I give my unwanted clothes to charity, throughout the year (well that’s something I’ve always done). So my dear readers, it’s about that time for you to give (clothes, shoes, blankets or food) to those in need. After all…it is Christmas.
